In Motorola Talkabout walkie talkies (and possibly others), there is a headset port. It is recessed, so the plug must be elongated to fit in it.

PTT is on pin two, the switch is in series with the mike, so that once the radio senses the mike impedance (over 1K on my meter) the radio transmits
